Speaker Panels
Panels and talks that will feature the best energy lawyers in the world, from Toronto and far beyond: regulation, projects, deals, and disputes.
Lincoln Alexander School of Law · Toronto Metropolitan University
Founded in 2026, we are a new student society for one of the largest and fastest-changing areas of legal practice: regulation, renewables, oil and gas, and energy disputes, with a global and comparative outlook.
Who we are
The Energy Law Society exists to give Lincoln Alexander law students practical exposure to the field: how energy projects get built, financed, regulated, and fought over. From power purchase agreements to pipeline disputes, energy work sits at the centre of the modern economy.
We launched in 2026, and we are building the club from the ground up: connecting students with the lawyers doing this work in Toronto and around the world, and developing the skills to join them.
What we're planning
We are a brand-new club, so everything below is what we plan to build in our first year. Join us and help shape it.

Panels and talks that will feature the best energy lawyers in the world, from Toronto and far beyond: regulation, projects, deals, and disputes.

Planned sessions where students meet energy practitioners, in-house counsel, and alumni for mentorship and candid career insight.

Our planned flagship event: an annual skills-based competition on an energy dispute, argued before practising lawyers.

We want to involve law students directly in energy law research and student-written thought pieces on the issues shaping the field.
